Which one is better and why, IIT Bombay for Metallurgy v/s an EE at IIT Indore or IIT Gandhinagar or IIT Bhubaneswar?
In comparison between both the institutes of IIT Gandhinagar and IIT Bhubaneshwar, I can assure you that IIT Bhubaneshwar is far better in terms of its infrastructure than IIT Gandhinagar. I can say so because I’ve seen and experienced the same. Though, Gandhinagar can be witnessed to have a locational advantage over the city of Bhubaneshwar as, being the capital of Orissa, Gandhinagar has a better cultural history. On the other hand, Bhubaneshwar has recently improved its growth rate by a lot too.
Between both the institutes, IIT Bhubaneshwar had its first batch years before IIT Gandhinagar came out with its first one. This is the reason why IIT Bhubaneswar provides a much better coding culture than IIT Gandhinagar. It’s because of its experienced seniors and coding and web development club which contributes a lot to the open-source.
Talking about the quality of faculty provided by IIT Bhubaneshwar, the institute provides its students with a team of very knowledgeable and experienced professors. The faculty is very unique and effective in its interactive teaching methods.
The placement rate of IIT Bhubaneshwar is also quite high and satisfying. Surprisingly, IIT Bhubaneshwar contributes to the highest fraction of core placements among all the IITs all over the country. Bhubaneshwar also shelters headquarters of big companies like Tata Steel, Nalco, etc. This eventually adds up to the number of opportunities for internships and placements. The quality of education provided at IIT Bhubaneshwar also gets reflected through the confidence of its students. Many of my seniors have invested their efforts into start-ups and inventions.
Though, if we take these institutes’s national ranking as their basis of comparison then according to MHRD, National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF), Bhubaneshwar being on the 18th rank lies a lot ahead from IIT Gandhinagar who’s at the 30th rank. I’ve seen that ranking matters a lot when it comes to overall ranking an institute. I personally expect a lot of changes in the opening and closing ranks of IIT Bhubaneshwar this year as it has improved a lot in its NIRF ranking, unlike IIT Gandhinagar who has been quite constant with its rankings lately.
